Halifax £5 reward account

I opened the account in branch as was told over the phone I would need to fill out an R85 as a non tax-payer instead of doing it online. So I went to branch and opened the account and recieved the reward a few days ago; £5 the same as tax payers. I read the terms and conditions and it states you need to claim the difference (£1.25) back off HMRC.

1) I rang to complain and they didn't seem bothered that I had to go into branch unnecessarily and waste my time due to their false information.

2) Is it really worth claiming it back?

As the Reward payment isn't technically interest, HMRC won't let you fill in an R85 for the account.

You need to fill in an R40 form, which you can get from the HMRC website.

It up to you whether it's worth doing; over the course of a whole tax year it's worth £15.

I'll try and sort it out, I got told it was an R85, that's what I have for my other bank accounts. So combination of having little experience and poor customer service haven't helped!
