He steals those.0 -
If it was just sitting on the shelf, it's quite possible somebody just photographed the license key and downloaded the game.
I've got a friend who discovered Asda near him put game boxes out with the nintendo stars codes and xbox games with DLC codes out on the shelves. He's taken to jotting down the codes or just taking the slips of card and getting free downloads.
Have a word with Tesco, as I'm sure, legally, they have no leg to stand on.
Also, if youre new to gaming, Lost Planet may not be ideal anyway, it's very old school and rock hard. You'd be better off with something more mainstream to begin with like Gears of War.
A friend? Really? Sure it isn't you?0 -

Well thanks for all the advice.
Steam have not moved on their position so no joy there and Tesco staff just shrugged their shoulders with a "happens all the time mate" smile, said the warehouse ships them in and they stock the shelf then refunded the money, no doubt it will find its way out onto the shelf again.
I am a bit of an old hand with games though, just not PC based, never had the kit till now that would run much worth playing.
Tesco have recieved detailed feeback via their comments webpage but I will not hold my breath.
By the way Tesco games are all locked into a plastic case on the shelves so no way could a customer steal the key info.0 -

another possibility is someone used a keygen to generate a CD key
which just happens to be the same as the game you bought0 -
Is anyone else thinking '!!!!!! its £3', or is it just me....'Just because its on the internet don't believe it 100%'. Abraham Lincoln.

Not all software is sealed, quite often Supermarkets do sell unsealed games.
correct! I purchased a ps3 slim from Tesco 2 months ago with 2 free games, Motorstorm pacific rift came sealed however Uncharted was not. wasnt bothered to exchange it but the cd worked and had no scratched so kept the game.
But yes, they do sell you unsealed games, stated to be 'new'0
