Purchasing "FREEHOLD" on property

Hi, we are in the middle of the conveyancing process and now waiting on our Buyers to purchase the FREEHOLD on their property for their Buyer.

Can anyone advise how long this process takes ? I assume completion of contracts cannot take place until it has all been finalised ??

Thanks in advance

Its as long as a piece of string - anything from a few days to a couple of years, depending on how co-operative the freeholder is! If the freeholder won't agree then he won't agree and has to be compelled, which can take time.

Seriously your solicitors will have to ask questions about how far the process has progressed and they will then be able to advise you about likely time scales.

As a retired conveyancing solicitor I believe the information given in the post to be useful assuming any properties concerned are in England/Wales but I accept no liability for it.
