Argos returns policy

Can someone help me? We bought a 42" lcd tv from Argos and they have now said that once you plug it in, you can't return it. Surely this is ridiculous cuz how can you know if you don't like it or it isn't compatible with your equipment or there's a fault without plugging it in?! It would appear now that there is a ghosting issue with one scart socket and surely that comes under the category of not being fit for purpose so we are entitled to take it back. My husband is not happy with the picture but I'm assuming that is not a sufficient reason to take it back. Can someone tell me what our rights are here? Thanks.

Quite simply, if you believe there's a fault, you have every right to return under the sale of goods act for a refund.

    When did you buy it?

you cant return it if you dont like it,havent done you research on compatibility (in law)
if its faulty you can return it

I did struggle to find the right place to post so I'll try again. Thanks Sunshine.

We just bought it 3 days ago. Just because we say there's a fault tho, will they not test it before they give us the refund? What if they say there's nothing wrong? I just wanted to confirm that telling us plugging it in invalidated the returns poplicy is ridiculous.

If it's faulty, turn up at the store with it to return it.

They'll refund you. They won't test it in store.

its better to request a move, either by PMing the board guide or clicking the little warning triangle and requesting a move
otherwise you get two threads on the same topic
we have already covered you can return it

Sounds like the person you've talked to is talking rubbish. Any exclusions or caveats that override their 30 day returns policy need to spelled out before you buy.

If a product is excluded from our 30-day money-back guarantee, it is clearly marked by a † next to the product name in the catalogue and on this website.
