Hello & Allicance-Leciester charges

Hi everyone,

I've posted over on the thread "Alliance & Leicester (merged) (Page 119)"
but looking at it, it doesn't seem to have been used in nearly a year. I can't post you a link to it sorry.

I don't want to double-post so can either someone move it where it should be, or allow me to repost it somewhere else?

It's regarding A&L's unauth overdraft charges. Thanks!

Yeah, I know. The thing is I personally went & asked how much the charges were & paid all of them. They didn't tell me all the charges though :(

Edit: my original post would be here:

    Your post.

Write a complaint letter explaining everything in your post, say you went in and asked what the charges would be.

However, I can't see you being given any sort of wipe off as its word against word. You might get lucky though.

Hi, thanks, I'll do that. I have already made a complaint to them (twice to make sure). I now have to wait for their reply (before that though, they'll apply the charges!). I've also emailed some newspapers, watchdog & next whatever MP I hyave got.

I actually paid cash in over the counter, so there's a record of me being in there. I also made the teller cry, so I'm sure she'd remember (didn't mean to, but I was angry...)

I got a letter (that was quick!) this morning, GF brought it round to work at lunch.

    It says:
We have reveiwed the circumstances in which these fees were charged and onfirm they are in line with our fee structure
    ...
we have taken your circumstances into account... refunded £50 as a gesture of goodwill".

Do you think thats the best I can hope for?

Also, it doesn't say how much the fees are actually going to be - I know of £90, and have guessed around £150, but not the rest and as I've already seen the bank doesn't know either.

So, does anyone know how I'd find out what the amount I need to pay in order to close the account would be? Phoning them: No, they don't know. They got it wrong in the branch as well.

I'd say to write to them again saying that you are experiencing financial hardship and you need the funds to be returned to you as soon as possible. You can also contact Financial Ombudsman

    http://www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk/consumer/can-we-help-3.htm

I got a few hundred £ returned to me after writing 4 letters of complaint plus I was communicating with FOS (that was just before the ruling that they didn't need to refund the charges but worth a try).
