    Hi

I read comments on this thread saying to claim it and that the landlord would not know.

I claim LHA or housing benefit whatever name you wanna call it same bloomin thing, anyway my landlord always receives the letters that i do from the council advising of any change of dates or any change of income within the household.

Although i do agree that it isn't your problem that he doesn't declare his earnings - you definately shouldn't be left out of pocket nor should you have to "maybe" make ends meet do the right thing for your family, its not fair that he is putting that on you at all.

There is a section on the LHA application form asking for your landlords details. In this section you are also asked of you consent to your landlord having info about your claim. Unless that consent is given by the ternant, the LL won't get any of the letters. Most Local Authorities don't send these letters out as a matter of course anyway but will advise LL of the basic LHA claim details if they inquire AND the consent has been given.

The main reason they ask for the landlord details is to see whether the person who the claimant says is the owner actually is the owner. I went through this with Enfield council in 2009. As long as you have a straightforward AST then there is no reason for the LA to need to contact the LL.

You can in fact put your address down as the address of your landlord. I did.
