Morning all.

Just installed Firefox. Need some help with add -ons. Which do you recommend I use and why? So many choices and not very techy! Thanks to all who reply. Now I can't get into FB even though I have entered the correct details???

    Well my main ones are

Adblock plus - pretty self explanatory and really brilliant blocks page ads but also removes adverts from catchup sites like 4OD and itv player.

All-in-one sidebar - Personal choice but its neater and makes downloads, bookmarks, history etc much easier to access without additional windows.

British English Dictionary - Mainly cause my spelling is dreadful, means any text you type in the browser is checked for spelling mistakes

Google Toolbar - I mainly use the highlight feature, in fact I think that's all its installed for, but latest update is much better than previous versions

IE tab - In case anything isn't displaying properly in firefox, allows you to switch to IE within firefox browser

New Tab Homepage - any new tab opened opens your homepage

Umm that's it I think, and this going to sound pretty hypocritical but don't go too mad with addons they can cripple the browser performance.

Edit - edited to add links as others had and I felt lazy

The first ones I always install are,

NoScript Absolutely essential for increased security, but you do have to train it to allow scripts on your favourite pages.
Scripts are needed for pages to work correctly, but can be used to "inject" nasties into your computer.

    Dictionary

Forecastfox Essential for my type of work.

There is an outside chance that others will have their own favourites. :D
    Move along, nothing to see.

    Noscript and google toolbar

Youd be advised against installing addons youll never use or dont need as it will all slow down firefox

    I'm a fan of WOT - https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3456/
Shows a nice big red circle if you're directed to a dodgy looking site.

Also Tab Mix Plus - http://tmp.garyr.net/
Give you loads more controls over what your tabs do. Nice for new tabs from search bars etc.
