My new Labour MP who defied the bookies expectations and not only won, but with an increased majority is a veritable vision of loveliness.

I voted for the fat bloke who looks a bit like a chipmunk though.

But bookies expectations are largely moved by people punting rather than real insight.

I showed utter stupidity (of Ninkyesque proportions) by punting a fiver on the Lib Dems here.

    rofl.
there for further confusing the right wrong left issue. From ninky's perspective one left doing two rights could make a right. From my point of view that would be one left takes two rights and makes a wrong. Twice.

could bring new meaning to the term 'pollling station' lir.

my actual opinion is the tories should take it. let's see if they can make it work with a load of lib dem mps voted in on a mansion tax, no-trident, immigration amnesty manifesto. it could be political suicide for both parties leading to a re-election and clearer future support for labour.

labour will lose out big time if they try to 'force' a win from this.

however, i think both sides have a right to try.

the conservatives have not won by any stretch.

misskool would you ''do'' any of the terrible looking overweight men standing yesterday?

'Standing' might be the safest position, anyway, by the sound of it.:p

Can I just say that none of the local politicians has any 'wow factor' in this direction, at least from my POV, but my new Polish dentist is another matter altogether. :D

Am I the only one who thing the Green Party are more bonkers then the BNP? They want to allow mass immigration from non EU countries, give them citizenship and raise the minimum wage to £8 while raising benefits? Sounds like a sure way to screw up the country if you ask me.

I don't think they are more bonkers than the BNP. I think they have some very important things to say. Sadly, in my opinion, it comes with a lot of guf too. But its a genuine political opinion, not in anyway hateful, even if I don't agree with the stance.

In my bleary state this a.m. 'guff' sums it up well enough!

Such a pity, as I'd have a natural leaning that way....:(

if you go to areas with lots of immigrants they are the most economically active and exciting areas. head to wall-to-wall 'native' areas and they are often a lot less enterprising.

a small anecdote - was in wales over the bank holiday weekend. we wanted to by some welsh cakes on the drive back. stopped at over half a dozen shops in various 'towns' (where we could actually find a shop and it was open) and all had sold out - clearly not thinking ahead with stocking up. put a few immigrants in there and they wouldn't lose out on business like that.

there are many ways of screwing up a country not all of them to do with financial balance sheets.

look at what has happened to our natural environment in the last 50 years. we've lost more than half the native forest that was left. it will take centuries to replace it. there's no imf bailout from environmental destruction.

I've heard Leicester called some things in my time, but "exciting" and "economically active" ???? Come on....

wow - it was on the cards, but still, it's a pretty notable moment.

Targeted very specfically for its demographics. The Green party failed to obtain a high % of the vote in any other seat you may not have noticed.
