ESA and being disabled.

Hi all,

I just don't know what to do, and I'm really hoping someone can help me.
I had an accident in 2008, and have been unable to work. I've used up my savings and realised that I wasn't going to be able to afford to pay my mortgage and so moved in with my mum, and rented my flat out. The rent isn't covering the mortgage.

I'm finding it hard going at my mums house, as she has stairs. She's not prepared to make any adjustments at all.

I'm no longer getting half pay from work, so I'm getting DLA mobility, ESA (c) and IIDB... Well I'm waiting to see if the IIDB has been renewed.

I would like to go back to my flat because it's all on one level, however I've been told that there is no way I can get help because I have a mortgage. I think I need to be back in my flat before I can apply for SMI, but I won't be able to pay the mortgage if I do that. Is there any other way I can get help?

Also I've been trying to ask work to try and give me some light duties, if they do I'd be getting half pay. Would I still be entitled to esa (c)?

Thank you for reading. :)

You will have a thirteen week waiting period for SMI.

ESA allows you to do 'permitted work'. It your half pay is more than £93 and/ or sixteen hours, you will not be eligible for ESA.
    Gone ... or have I?

Thank you. So I'd move back into the house, claim ESA (IB) then wait 13 weeks and claim SMI?
