Hi folks, my Vauxhall Zafira some times will not start. there is simply nothing, it won't even turn over. 5 minutes later, it starts fine. Yesterday it took hours to re-start. does anyone have any idea what this could be please. thanks a lot, steve.:o

Cheers. I should have mentioned that when it does start after this problem, it is groggy for 5 seconds, perhaps as tho the engine was flooded.0

if the engine is struggling to start ie turning over but not firing then it will be flooded.
when it fails to start does the engine turn over normally?0 -
They are known to have Ecu faults. Recommend you get that checked - as cheaply as possible...Genie

When it fails to start, i.e., nothing happening at all, no the engine doesn't even turn over. no lights appear on the dash either.0

check battery connections earths ignition switch or as jeanie pointed out could be an ecu fault0

ecu or immobilser fault would still light up the dash and would still crank normally.
Sounds more like an earth fault from the battery, or the live cable, or battery terminals.0 -
Thanks all, I'll go and get it checked at my local trusty garage and focus on the battery area, if that fails I'll refer to the ECU and/or immobiliser.0

Is it an auto or a manual?0
