HONDA JAZZ under warrenty - problem - dealer not helping
Hello,
We bought a honda jazz 6 weeks ago. only 2 years old. 1.2L. When driving on the motorway the steering really plays up. The car will not drive in a straight line. Its like the car is constantly pulling to the left and the right, your in a constant battle to striaghten it up which can make the arms ache aswell. Because of this battle the car is slightly going from left to right within the lane.I can only describe it as a pull to the left so i pull to the right and it just goes to far so i then have to pull to the left and so on.
The faster you go the more noticable it is. over 65mph.. But its the same scenario at lower speeds, but not as noticable because your covering less distance.. plus you will only notice it when driving on straights.
We took to the dealer and they took for a test drive and done some checks on the wheels and up on the ramps. ( i doubt they went on motorway) they said it was ok and couldnt find anythting wrong, but we stressed its not right and very unerving and unsafe and desribed it again, and they said Honda head office know about the problem and its a design fault and theres nothing they can do...
Any advice as to what i can do or who i could speak to pursue this. ?
thanks

is it just on motorways?0

If its only in lane 1 on motorways it could be the ruts - I had a Mondeo which suffered badly from it, but it disappeared when I switched to a different make of tyre.
I'd start by checking the tyre pressures.0 -
It sounds unlikely to be a warranty issue. Far more likely due to pair tyre/wheel maintainance.0

i was thinking tramlining0

Does it have speed sensitive steering in other words does the steering get lighter the slower you go. If it does then maybe it's faulty, maybe the steering isn't getting heavier as the car goes faster so it's too sensitive. I hope you understand what I'm trying to say.

First thing I'd do would be to jack the front end up and check both driven wheels for play.0

thanks for replies.
its only Noticable when driving on motorways on the straights Over 60ish mph. But it does happen at lower speeds but not as noticable because your going slower.. The honda dealer said they checked the tyres etc and there was nothing wrong.
I think im going to try another honda dealer this week.0
