Hello robwend
I've seen lots of MSE members recommending using baby oil to clean stainless steel surfaces..........so it must work.
Anyway, if it's safe enough to use on a baby............what possible harm could it do to a metal alloy?;)
Worry no more, it's not naughty.:D

Quite the opposite - it should protect from rust. Don't go mad with it though - a few drops on a piece of kitchen towel is usually enough, otherwise it'll look like you've been doing too much frying!0

Depends the context it's used in as to how naughty it is.;)

It would only cause corrosion if the steel was pitted or of poor quality and the oil contained chloride irons.
If the above occured (in the prescence of oxygen) you could get crevice corrosion.
Hopefully the baby oil is refined enough to contain few or no chlorides.
OK, i will stop boring you all now

My pal, a chef, uses it in all his kitchens (or tells his minions to use it!) so it must be ok.******** Never be a spectator of unfairness or stupidity *******"Always be calm and polite, and have the materials to make a bomb"0
