London and Countyr Mortgage Broker?

Hi there

I am thinking of approaching this company as they seem a large player, seem to be whole of market and don't charge a fee. I just wondered if anyone has used them or has any advice/comment/recommendations for them before I give them a call.

Thanks.

I have just used them (mortgage offer received this week) and they have been really good. I am the type of person who likes to do things myself, but the main benefit to me has been that because of their size they have access to offers you won't be able to get anywhere else. My mortgage is at 80% LTV but the actual deal I got is only available to normal customers at 75% LTV.

I have used them twice and they were very good. They did a lot of chasing for us when we were under pressure to exchange quickly.

They are also very honest as have told me previously where there are better deals direct with the lender.

They are nowhere near in size of the big players.

Is there anyone else you would suggest if that is the case?

You should go with one that offers the service you want.

L&C are perfectly fine if you dont want local contact and perhaps a bit more hand holding that a face to face contact can give you. The only times you tend to see negative posts on them are from people who weren't really suited to telephone/email/direct style advice and paperwork.

Also, it should be noted that Martin uses them in his articles because they have the capacity to handle the business that the articles will send him that way. If he listed the best providers, they are too small to handle the business that would flow their way. There are thousands of fees free advisers all over the country that can provide a local service using local employees and I would say use them if you can because you are supporting your local firms and people. That would be the only reason though.

The other option is not to consider a fees free whole of market broker who only looks at commission paying deals (like L&C and virtually all others in this category) but look at an independent broker who you pay a fee but will consider all providers whether they pay a commission or not and if they do pay a commission then that is rebated to you. That is the only way to get full market coverage. It can also be cheaper as they may have deals which save you more than the fee.
