Don't know if you can use them for a party but pizza express take tesco vouchers....so £10 tesco vouchers = £40 food (not drink) at pizza express. I am sure they have a limit of 8 people eating but that fits with your numbers.

Brilliant thank you, I had forgotten about these. The Pizza bit will not be a party, just a meal, so will work perfectly :D

a small group of friends come along rather than, say, the whole class, in my my DD's case it actually worked out cheaper.

Having had a couple of years of inviting everyone (as was the done thing) I know how dear it can be (and stressful!!! :D) and even with a decent budget per head, bearing in mind I can pinch TEsco vouchers from my mum for the Pizza Express bit (she does not know this yet :rotfl::rotfl:) I think it will work out cheaper.
TBH, DD has wanted one for a couple of years, but as it was still the done thing to invite everyone to parties, I have had to say no. Now a select group is acceptable, I thought it would be best.
P.S. I will be about 7 months pregnant then, so got to be less stressful than organising a party and entertaining them myself, like last year :eek::eek:

I have to say, we've looked at Build a Bear for our DD, but it works out so expensive, especially as that's all you do, there's no actual partying involved and you can't even take a cake into the shop.

In the end we went with the Pizza Express pizza making party, which was a huge success.

How long was the Pizza Express party?

Boo hoo we don't have a build a bear shop anywhere remotely near us:(

I love BAB, my DD is almost 13 now but still buys the odd clothing item for a bear she has cherished for years from there ;)

Great fun that kids love and so much more memorable than a plate of curled up sandwiches in a wacky warehouse somewhere!

My son recently went to a build a bear party and really really enjoyed it. It must have been quite expensive considering that only 6 children went but equally it was probably the same price as a party for 25 children but a lot less hassle!! He came away with a lovely souvenir which he will have a lot longer than a party bag full of plastic tat. They then had lunch at Pizza Hut afterwards.

Do you have the invitation books where you live? If so there is a voucher for £8 off a party at the build a bear workshop and also 25% off pizza hut as well. I think they may even have vouchers for pizza express.

In fact I have just checked and I have an £8 off voucher here that I could post to you if you pm me your address. You have to book it before 31 July 2010 but the party can be anytime, and it has to be for 6 or more kids.

Huuuuuuuge thank you, this arrived this morning and is really appreciated, so many many thanks :A

My eldest daughter had a build a bear party and loved it. The staff were fab and did hunt the bear games. I would do it after school (as I did then) as the party is on the shop floor with other customers there, so I would imagine it would be very busy on a Saturday and not as much fun. We went to MacDonalds after. However when my youngest wanted similar the BAB locally had closed down, so instead I ordered similar from a site in the USA (the outer skins, birth certs, hearts and bear t shirts), I ordered the stuffing off ebay and bought some little £1 bear shaped baby brushes from Poundland and some T shirt markers. The children really enjoyed that as they designed their T shirts, brushed their bears etc. I stuffed the arms, legs and head before to make it easier, so they just had to do the body stuffing. I got some bear design plates and cups and bear shaped cutter to make some snadwiches. They then had a teddy bear picnic in the garden after. We played games like musical statues, bear bumps etc. I will try and see if I can find the site I ordered off.

Thank you, but DD's b/day is in Aug so no after school option :o
  • We did a BAB party for my daughter's sixth birthday last year, followed by a happy meal at McDonalds. She had the choice between inviting 12 children to a local softplay, or just six to BAB. It was a lovely party - we had the basic package, plus allowed each child to buy a t-shirt. I have to say that I didn't have one of the children pester me for anything else, and although the party was scheduled for 1 hour, it went on for 1hr 30 m. I did pay an additional sum (£10 or £20) for a character to spend some time with the kids. They did love this, but it wasn't really necessary.

Have to say it has been my favourite party so far!

Hi there what is an invitation book? If you still have the voucher would you be willing to send it to me?

    Many thanks
