FireFox and JavaScript Problem

Right, I ditched IE8 (and my computer breathed a huge sigh of relief) and opted for Firefox.
I downloaded all the add-ons necessary including Java Platform SE 6 U12 and U18. I've made sure that Javascript is enabled and yet when I access websites for which JavaScript is necessary, the websites tell me that it is not enabled.
Have I done something wrong? Is there another setting I need to alter?
Thanks

Hi
You've probably checked in Firefox's preferences that Javascript is enabled.
But you need to look in:-
Firefox > Addons > Plugins
and make sure that the Java plugin isn't disabled.Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake.0 -
Java and JavaScript are two totally different things. Java requires an add-on/plugin to work, but JavaScript is built in to the web browser.
By default, you shouldn't need to do anything to enable JavaScript.
You haven't got the NoScript add-on installed by any chance? That disables JavaScript by default, unless you manually allow it.0
