Windows or rendering first?

My rendering on my bungalow needs replacing, as do my old double-glazed windows. Which should be done first?

Cheers!

Windows then patch up any damages to the wall with the new rendering. It's a no brainer.

I disagree. If the windows are old, it doesn't mean they are ineffective or will cause you problems.

However, if the rendering is cracked and / or blown, this can allow moisture to get behind the render, become trapped which could easily lead to damp problems in the house.

    Get the rendering done first

If they are both definitely getting done and it would be around the same time then do the windows first. Fitting new windows inevitably causes some damage to the surrounding render which the fitters will not be able to make perfect. Doing the rendering second would allow it to all be matching and you won't end up doing the bit round the windows twice.

If its a case of one OR the other then you need to assess which could cause more potential problems if left as it is.

Windows. They might well be able to fit new windows without damaging the rendering. But there is no guarantee. You will kick yourself if you have it rendered first and then the rendering gets damaged when the new windows are subsequently fitted.
I can afford anything that I want.
