So apparently Lada are planning a comeback in the UK from 2012, with some backing from Renault. I'm surprised they aren't considering a change of name, as their reputation has to be worse than Skoda. I think there'll be some half-decent cars from Lada, a Lada made with backing from Renault can't be much worse than a Renault, and will give the likes of Kia and Hyundai a run for their money at the bottom end of the new car market. I doubt there'll be anything as exciting as the old Niva in the lineup though.

They even have boring eurobox styling these days like most other cars on the road...

If they can genuinely sell it under the 5k mark (as the bottom link suggests) I would have thought that they will have a reasonable market and will be able to give Kia and the like a run for their money. Given that they are owned by Renault (and an ad on the Renault F1 car) I suspect people will start thinking of them a little differently - much like Skoda and VW.

There will always be people out there who just want a cheap shopping trolley without really caring about looks, performance etc - so, priced competitivly I reckon they should sell OK. With clever marketing I see no reason why the name couldn't be turned around like Skoda was....

At least it has rearward visibility, unlike so many newer model " Euro Boxes " these days.

Lack of rearward visibility is real problem today. Almost a scandal.
