renting & ccj!

Hi all,
Hope you can help me!
I'm currently looking for a house to rent but I have a ccj that was satisfied recently for approx 4k. However in an attempt to clean up my credit file I've registered with all 3 credit reference agencies (experian, equifax + callcredit) and the ccj is only showing on the equifax one. I've seen on here someone mention that homelet are a popular tenant referencing agency and that they use call credit to verify details. If this is the case and my ccj isn't showing, but its showing other details - i.e electoral role, other credit accounts(in good standing) would it be wise not to mention the ccj? I don't want to mislead the landlord or agency but if I declare it and they don't find it I'm not sure what would happen.
Thanks for your help,
T

Hiya
I too have a bad credit history, however i privately rent my home i got mines through the local paper property section loads of them mention whether they want credit checks in the ad.
If it is like most landlords that advertise in local papers then they dont credit check i have had all of my private lets (6 in total - but long story) through paper adverts and none of them have credit checked me.
The only credit checks i know which are conducted prior to letting is through letting agents but to be honest i would never go through them anyway due to the prices that they charge being so much more than you can justify.
Good luck and i hope you find a lovely home
