Reading that website, it seems like the scheme is simply just to give lower income families a computer and internet access which is paid for by the other parents (instead of government funding - which is where I think it should come from).

I would have thought that nowadays most parents at any school would already have a computer and internet connection at home anyway? Anyway, what's wrong with kids going to the library to use the computer if they don't have one at home? This is what I had to do until we got an internet connection at home.

    Thanks glider3560.
I was about to add that while I appreciate not all parents can afford computers or the internet this isnt an inner city school and its in a generally well off area.
It didnt seem to stop them putting the homework online so one wonders how many children at the school do not have access to a computer or the internet.
Another question I will ask if given the chance.

Interesting thread, but just wanted to add to the above comment schools and college's get incredibly good deals on software from Microsoft because they want everyone to be schooled on their software then nag their employers to use MS.

Yes, but it's only an 'incredibly good deal' if it's actually worth the price paid. That means it must justify its cost over a free alternative.
