Inheritance and stopping a claim

I wonder if someone can help.
I am currently in receipt of tax credits (I'm self employed) and housing/c.tax benefit.
I am about to receive some inheritance which will enable me to support myself for a while and not need to claim any benefits. Does anyone know how/when I need to inform the relevant departments and whether or not they would want to see proof of the money having been given to me? Or will they just be glad to see the back of another claimant?

I think they will only require evidence if you wish to start up a new claim.0

Just contact the council and explain you have been given some money and wish to stop your claim. Make sure you put it in writing and send recorded delivery.
If the amount is under 16k you may still be entitled to a little housing benefit.0 -
Tax credits are based on savings interest that is taxable. I think it's around £300 per year?Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think an inheritance / savings affects tax credits - it is only the interest income above £300 that you earn from those savings, which will then be added to your self-employed income to assess you for tax credits...?Definitely not high maintenance!
