Problem with XBox audio playing through 2 speakers

Hi all

Im wondering if someone can point me in the right direction

I have my xbox linked up to my Philips stereo system through the Xbox 360 HDMI Cable and phono leads linked into my phono connections on my stereo

The problem I have is, in paticular , i.e. fighting games like Street fighter/Final fight/fightnight which is very noticable, I get no audio coming through my left speaker

I know my speakers on my stereo are set up right as when I play Last FM or any form of music audio through the stereo I get audio output from both speaker (and both speaker lights on the stereo lights flash) without a problem

I messed about with the audio properties settings in xbox but to no avail

Anyones advise would be much appreciated
