in Credit cards
Hi.
I was made redundant last year and as a result have been claiming the unemployment insurance on my various cards etc to cover the payments. One card of mine is a Thomascook Credit card. Since december my payments for whatever reason have been duplicated a number of time, i.e instead of paying 1 x £187 for the month they have been paying this two, sometimes three times. I have deliberately kept quiet about this thinking ok they will suss it soon enough and want their money back, but in the meantime while they keep paying it, i pay less interest and should an emergency come up i can always dip into it and pay it back. I started to spend a bit here and there and before i knew it, the money had been spent. I did start to worry as i have now just split with my partner too and thought that any day a letter is gonna come through asking for it back. By now we are talking about £1400 in overpayments. Well yes you guessed it a letter came from them today, oh no i thought here we go. The letter was notifing me of a processing error where my monthly payments were being duplicated and gave the dates etc it had gone in. My heart nearly ceased up when i read the amounts etc. Then i read on. Due to this being an error on our part as a goodwill gesture we shall not be chasing the recovery of the over paid amounts but are writing to let you know that your future payments will be the correct amount..!.
So not only did they give me £1400 or so extra they are still going to give me my monthly payments for the rest of the claim..!! N1 Thomascook!!!

Bet your glad you didn't cancel the PPI and try to claim the payments back (As many on here do)0

Yes very glad... Can't believe they wrote it off, but mind you it was their mistake.:)0

I thought you weren't allowed to spend on a card while PPI was making the repayments? We’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Nope, you can, i thought the very same, but i am sure it was on here that i read an article about it. I phoned the company up directly and they confirmed it. Be aware that you are still responsibile to pay back what you spend though.0
