PC turns itself off when I load a DVD game

I've been Money Tipped!
We have just been given a new PC game which my husband was looking forward to trying, Cities XL Limited Edition.

However, the pc keeps turning itself off when it is trying to load it.

The only way to get the pc back on again is to unplug the power lead from the back of the pc and re insert it, it will then come back on and try to load again but still does the same thing.

If I take the DVD out then the pc will work as normal.

I have swapped the power lead and tried a different one but the same thing happens again.

Can anyone give any advice please?

Ta.

Right, I haven't got a clue what is in the PC as it was given to us by a friend who had another one built for him.

I think it will have quite a good spec as he used it for flight simulations etc and he had more money than sense so used to upgrade it all of the time.

I have just compared the specs and it looks like this pc isn't as good as I thought it was.

Can't complain though as we didn't pay for the pc or the game.

Will have to see what I can exchange it for at CEX.

    Thanks for your help folks.

    ;)
