Hi all
I have had a basic bank account for 18 months now and want to upgrade to a still basic one but with a debit card.
I have tried contacting my bank but because of a bouncing direct debit 4 months ago they wont let me!
Can anyone reccomend a basic bank account WITH a debit card?

Barclays has two options, one is a debit card under Visa. In the forthcoming months, Nationwide is changing their basic accounts to debit cards. This starts in June 2010 as detailed here http://www.nationwide.co.uk/current_account/card-changes2.htm0

Here are a list of basic bank accounts that offer debit cards to choose from: http://server-uk.imrworldwide.com/cgi-bin/b?cg=Pdfs&ci=fsa&tu=http://www.moneymadeclear.org.uk/pdfs/bank_accounts_table.pdf
I recommend Barclays and Natwest/RBS in that link.0 -

Just know that NatWest/RBS perform a full credit check on you.
I would opt for Halifax Easycash even though it comes with a Visa Electron.0 -

Am surprised. I have a trashed credit history (currently on a dmp) and had no problem getting a Natwest Step account.Debt 30k in 2008.:o Cleared all my debt in 2013 and loving being debt free
