New Greenhouse advice
Hi, I have a new greenhouse and am greatly excited about it. Only problem I don't know where to start.
I'm looking for advice really on what kind of plants/seeds to grow and when to do them.
All my veggie seeds are all ready to go out in the garden so I'm looking now at how to get the best use from greenhouse.
Hope someone can help me please.

I've just recently got one too. In it at the moment are plug plants, lilys (cala, asiatic and pineapple), plants grown from seed.
Also have strawberries, cucumbers, courgettes and tomatoes - the tomatoes will likely take up most room once they start growing and need potting on.
I'm still learning so will be good to hear what others do once the seedlings are moved outdoors.0 -
I've had a greenhouse for years....8x6 .... At the moment, I have all my bedding plants either in the greenhouse or in the cold frames.... Busy lizzies, petunias etc etc... But the plants that remain in the greenhouse are: 6 tomato plants (all different varieties so that they are ready at different times).. I'll grow basil, a couple of chilli plants, and pepper plants in front of the tomatoes... I put two morning glory flower seeds in with each tomato plant.... they twine up the plants and you get beautiful flowers hanging from the top of the tomato plants.... each lasts a day.....I have 2 kiwi plants from last year inside the greenhouse.... I had a grapevine but it took over so I have planted that permanently outside.... Usually, by the end of the summer, you can hardly get through the door of the greenhouse.... I then use the cold greenhouse to overwinter my fuschas and other tender plants (I put a thick layer of straw over them) and then, at the beginning of spring, I start my seed planting..... I am using the buckets from morrisons this year for the tomatoes so, hopefully, I'll get 8 in instead of 6..... I don't tend to have flowers in the greenhouse except for already mentioned and a couple of marigolds to keep the greenfly away.....
I hope this helps

Tomato, Cucumber, Lettuce or Chili's Plants can go into the Greenhouse now then look at seeds later on in the year Jan maybe to when is best to plant, if you are not able to plant your seeds indoors you will need a heater to keep the chill out of your Greenhouse. you can always lurk around the gardening room here and watch or ask questions later on.The solving of a problem lies in finding the solvers.0

Thanks for the replies so far. Office Geru: I love the idea of morning glory in with the tomatoes, will try that one!
Also like the idea of bail and marigolds to keep the bugs at bay.
I am a serious lurker on this board and am learning all the time. Thanks.Debt at start of DMP 1/6/09: £2942 - £1942
