Hi
I am due to be starting a PGCE to train to be a primary teacher in a few weeks and I wanted to open up a new account with a different bank then I'm with. I am in the process of claiming back my bank charges from Barclays at the moment, so I want to open a parachute account and it might as well be a student account becuase at least I'll get a free overdraft!
My current overdraft is £1200, which I max out every month so that's what overdraft I would require with the new account, (at least until my bank charges are refunded)!
Can anyone recommend a good bank account that might be suitable for me? I do a lot of online banking and would welcome freebies having to return to be a poor student! I need that overdraft at 0% again if poss, but other than that I am not bothered about any other specific criteria, oh yes, except not Barclays again!!
Thank you in advance for any advice offered.

You should be entitled to a 2k o/d with many of the banks as a postgrad. You may even get away with opening more than one account.
Abbey/Natwest/RBS would be good options.
Not many freebies for postgrads, they're all for the noob students. I miss my free 4 year railcard from 2000.0
