Why are there always new 'Java updates available'

What do you mean 'always'?

There have been a couple of java updates released in the last month or so.

Or do you mean that it is saying there are updates available when there are not?

What I mean is that I get a balloon popping up saying there are new update available frequently - I am often not able to install them straight away as I am in the middle of working. It may well be no more often than twice a month in reality, but seems more often as you get a reminder each day until to install.

But why are so many updates actually needed?

And do I really need to install them?

Mostly security issues, so youd be well advised to install them

Yes. They are issuing the updates to protect you.

As RIK says the updates are for security issues, it's very important to keep your system fully updated to avoid problems

If you run the Secunia scanner it will check if you have all the latest updates/patches on your computer............
