We lost one of our dogs at 10 due to cancer so with our dog now, we`ve had him neutered .0

I think, if I was in your shoes, I'd see how he settled in and if all was going well I'd leave him. If he's a bit over the top or shows any sign of being one 'for the ladies' I'd get him neutered.
Also, if he ever has to go for a GA I'd get him done at the same time. It's not unusual for a 10 year old to need a dental, or if he ever needs a stich up (most Lurchers owners will know ALL about them). Some days you're the dog..... most days you're the tree!

Thanks everyone for the replies it's very helpful .I got him via lurcher link. They have a section where they try to help find fosters or homes for dogs at risk of being put to sleep. So not strictly one of their dogs. He came from an alcoholic who left him for days on end and was removed, but probably because of his age hard to home. I was looking for older dog for company for pebbles so agreed to take him. He is a great wee dog and getting better all the time. He is not aggressive, it's more of a fear thing i think. He is fine if he sees dogs are on a leash, if not he just likes to make a noise to scare them off. He doesn't show any sexual behaviour towards pebbles, they mostly just ignore each other all the time. She is a bit skittish and if she jumps he goes for her , he hasn't hurt her, again just vocal. I was just thinking if it would improve the situation i would rather do it sooner rather than later. He is very affectionate and responding well to touch and attention, just quite clingy. As i said it's still quite early days so i'll maybe see how things progress. It's been good to get other views on it. thanks again0

Nutty woman sorry to hear about your dog. Does getting them neutered help prevent cancer?0

I had my dog castrated at the age of 3 and I thought it would calm him down but he is exactly as boistrous and crazy as ever. The only difference I have noticed is that he is a lot greedier now. x0
