Bad car luck!

Hello all
I recently sold a 2nd hand car that I bought. I advertised it on eBay but it never sold, however a chap messaged me to ask if I wanted to sell it once the auction ended. I agreed a figure with him (£250) if I got it MOT'd.
I went to the MOT centre and unfortunately they could not complete the test as the car had overheated. Up until then I had never had a problem with it. I contacted the buyer and told him. He said he still wanted the car, and we agreed a new figure of £100.
I delivered the car to him (drove it over), as the old MOT was still valid, and handed him all the documentation I had, including the MOT failure document. I asked him if he wanted to take it for a drive, but he said no - I drove him around the block in it and he was more than happy. He paid me, I signed the V5 and away I went.
6 days later I got a text telling me that the cylinder head has gone on the car. The guy seems a bit angry, and obviously I can understand why, however I had never had any problems with it, and he bought it as seen (for only £100!)
I am slightly concerned he's going to try and take me to small claims court, but I'm fairly sure that he does not have a leg to stand on, as it is a private sale and surely a case of caveat emptor?

It is not the bullet with your name on it, rather the one addressed "to whom it may concern" that should worry you!

A car breaker would give you that kind of money for it.0

He bought a car for £100. He could probably get that back at a scrappy for it. Sure he is probably not happy that his car has gone after 6 days but pays your money...
He really doesn't have a lot to complain about in my view.0 -
LOL he's complaining that a £100 car died on him?
Tell him to foxtrot oscar, imho.0 -
I've heard it all now. As above, tell him to FO! £100 was a really good price even with headgasket problems & he knew it couldn't pass an MoT and had an overheating problem. What does the clown expect from a car bought for £100. I know some people that wouldn't even get in a car if they knew it was bought for £100!0
