Ive accepted VS with a settlement of 30k. Husband works full time earing 25k on average, we have a 5 year old. We do have a little savings (around 3k in isa), we also have shares from the company Ive just left (around 10k).
I am training to be a child minder at home for the new school term in september. Therefore I will not be working for the next 3-4 months.
Will I be entitled to any benefits, Or because I have a pay off I wont get anything. Also is there anythinig I can do to "offset" my savings, either by giving it away to family member to look after or paying debts/mortgage.
Will my share saving sheme count against my benefit entitlement.
Ive heard that you can claim benefits if you have less than 6k in savings, but again what do they class as savings
Any help much appreciated
Mary
