I did wonder about the legality of refusing to honour the sales, but ultimately it's also a bit dodgy morally to pay 70p for goods you know are worth over £300:D

Morally yes, but it is illegal to refuse to honour goods once your card has been charged. I am reading it all over the internet, but can't find the legal documentation. I know its in there, but can't be bothered to hunt it down, if people do want to go down that route, then it does exist :D

Sounds like Pixmania all over again!! ....Well u win some and ya lose some!

Rare have upheld previous glitches but the discounts were no where near as big as the ones last night.

Doesn't it make you wonder why these glitches keep happening? :D

  • Also just to let you know......previously when I have ordered I have not received a dispatch email. I have placed 4 orders with them in the past and only ever received 1 dispatch email.

There's no way it would be a tatctic for gaining information...it will take them alot of time to rectify, and will deffinately cost them money as they will have given away stock for fractions of their price....it doesn't work in their favour at all and has probably caused them some damage internally.

I have worked on a website and yes you can spot these influx in sales a mile off, it won't have been noticed until the office was opened in the morning. Rekon it would take all day to sort out a problem like that which is why the e-mails are just coming thorugh now! They will need to sort regular orders from technically affected ones.....

    The terms and condition state:

Non acceptance of an order may take place in the following circumstances:
    • The product you ordered being unavailable from stock.
    • Our inability to obtain authorisation for your payment.
    • The identification of a pricing or product description error.
    • You not meeting the eligibility to order criteria set out in the main Conditions of Use.
Sounds like a deffinate pricing error to me! Or a bug or something like that!

I would say congrats to those who's orders got sent out and 'ah well, worth a shot' for those that got a refund!

Would have been awsome if it was an actual sale though! :)
(didn't mean to say that in bold, it just won't let me take it off after the copy/paste! :)
  • Hmmmmm detect that maybe someone works for them??? lol

When did the miss-pricing end? was it all day today? as it could have been updated right away. Terms mean nothing if it contradicts the sales of goods act. Stock that is not shifting, is more costly housing in warehouses etc etc, more worthwhile to send some items at a fraction of the price, make out it is a glitch on MSE and gain many new email addresses and tell most people they wont be having their purchases honoured :D

  • is there a chance that maybe the people who ordered with next day delivery, won't receive either emails due to it probably going out earlier today? which means there could be a delivery tomorrow? *fingers crossed*

I think you may be right. Been checking my emails all evening but nothing from rare.

Made 2 orders both with next day gold delivery.

Anyone who used gold delivery had a cancellation email?

No, (I wish) but i worked for a fashion website last year! And also the website moneysupermarket.com...i know how websites run...and i was just offering my opinion based on my experience working on them... like i say i have seen it happen before and don't want people to get their hopes up!:(
  • I made one order gold and one standard, but not had even one email.
Hmm maybe a surprise delivery for me tomorrow :)

Surely all the cancellation emails would be out by now?? x
