Housing benefit help please!!

Hi all,
I am new to the forum and looking for some advice,i currently receive full housing benefit due to my partner being on long term IB and myself only working 4 hrs per week.
Last year i was diagnosed with cancer and have had to have treatment leaving me highly fatigued and very down.
In the space of all this my partner was awarded a extra amount of IB for myself, with all the stress that was going on i didn't take the award for the extra into HB because it made no difference to my benefit as i was still under the limit by quite a bit, there is no way i have been overpaid.
Last week i recieved a letter laying out my income and on it i noticed that my partners IB was wrong,i immediatly notified HB of this ad sent in the proof,i am now very worried that i am going to get into big trouble even though i know i have not been overpaid for sure, they even said that when i took the proof in.Sorry for the ramble its just one thing after another i really am at my wits end.

thanks in advance.

How much IB were you receiving? Do either of you receive DLA, and if so, at what rate?

You are over the applicable amount for a couple, so you may have had a small overpayment. They will recalculate your entitlement and if there is an overpayment, make a small deduction from your entitlement to pay off this. I would write a letter explaining that it was an oversight on your part, and that you were undergoing treatment at the time.

OK, children change things! However I am still a little concerned about how much you are receiving - if you were/ are below the applicable amount you would be eligible for an IS top up. Who have you checked your amounts with?

I still think you are slightly over the applicable amount, but am a bit too tired to do a manual calculation to double check (teach me to spend the afternoon in the pub!). Don't worry, the LA will recalculate your figures and let you know if there is any overpayment.
