Mcafee and Windows 7 64bit.

Options
Evening all, I'm having a few problems with my anti virus and wondered if anyone else was having the same issues?

I had mcafee running on my computer for about 7 months with no issues at all, then yesterday I got an onscreen message saying parts of it were missing and it needed to be re-installed. I did a complete un-install of mcafee and used their own un-install tool. Now everytime i try to reinstall it my computer restarts itself. After speaking with mcafee they say there is a compabability issue with mcafee and windows 7 64bit (my operating system) and it will take up to 2 weeks to fix!! In the meantime i'm left with no anti virus/spyware/malware protection. Can anyone reccommend a got combination of free stuff I can run until mcafee can sort themselves out!

Thanks.

Throw it away and try Microsoft SE , or of course try Avast/Avira

No need to use free stuff as 30 day trials are aplenty. Here, try ESET Smart Security 4.2.40.0. Click on the 30 day trial, give them an email address to which to send you a username and password and then go back to the original page to download the correct version for your PC.
Use the username and password given to you to verify the download and register the software.
    Say goodbye to McAfee. :)

    i'd bin mcafee completely.

i have a Win7 x64 laptop here (with mcafee installed) and when ever the laptop has been switched on, it wants to drain all my (limited 60kb/s) internet bandwidth and ends up getting my connection throttled to 10-20kb/s by my isp.
