I am running XP Pro and have had my computer for about 4 years and have never backed up.
My Docs contains photos and data and I think is about 40 GB.
Can someone please tell me how I can Back up?

Best way for now is to simply buy an external HDD and copy your files on to there. At least then you have 1 backup. If possible, buy a couple of drives and mirror your backups onto them and keep one out of the house.
Going forward, use one of the external drives on a regular basis and schedule some backup software to create backups overnight while you are not using your computer. Once done, copy the backup file to your extra drive.0 -
..........or read the two stickies on the subject.

External usb hard disk plus disk imaging software (macrium reflect free or maxblast free), plus a handful of dvd's for a second copy of important data!!

or you can clone your hard drive including the operating system (I recommend Acronis for this) and keep it in case of a total crash. Then you just swap hard drives and you are back on track in a couple of minutes.*_*_* Department of Redundancy Department *_*_*0

I bought a clickfree external hard drive backup from qvc a while ago. It's really simple to use, literally just plug in usb and it runs itself. I just use it once a week.
I don't think it's the cheapest but it's certainly very easy.somewhere between Heaven and Woolworth's0
