Hi everyone,
Bought an Epson Aculaser at the end of March. Brand new etc
The other day when I printed something a notification came up saying I needed to order new ink! I checked the levels and there's just over a third left.
So I went on the online chat thing today and asked what toners they put in new printers - she says the standard ones - 1800 pages. I printed off a status sheet and I've printed 300 pages since I got it.
That means with the 1/3 ink I have left plus the pages I've used = 900 pages - half has gone missing! I told her this and she said that because it's the first cartridge in the printer it will have used some for calibration! Calibration now takes 900 pages worth of ink does it!? I asked this but the answer was 'we can't say exactly how much it would use but it is possible that it could use that much toner for calibration.'
I'm no printer expert but surely this is not right? 50% of the toner is not accounted for. Am I being fobbed off?
Thanks for any help

It's hard to say without knowing what you have printed on those 300 pages. Toner life (in pages) is normally quoted on 5% of coverage per page (i.e., a page of text). If you are printing graphics, bold text, large text, pictures, banners, shapes, etc., then you will use more toner.
The calibration does use more than normal toner but not hundreds of pages worth. Normally it prints text and some pictures to show what the printer can do.0 -
could it be the cart wasnt a full one in the 1st place? you normally get a trial size with new printers.spanky xx

lost so far 11.5 lbs0 -
I asked about whether it was a new one and they said all their printers come with the standard toners (1800 pages).
I've been printing normal text, nothing extraordinary."A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on" - Winston Churchill0
