That the relevant part of your post - it does not matter what guff the suppliers quote.
Any apple grafted onto M27 root stock will produce a small tree about 4-5 foot high.
You will get better crops if they can cross-pollinate each other.
The most common rootstock commercially is M9, which is not very good in pots as the roots are poor. However, the cheapest rootstock is M26 which would be better. You would get away with it in a pot for a few years anyway.
Thanks for answering all parts of my question. I got home last night and my partner had put the laxtons superb in the middle of the lawn so will see what happens with it and how much growth it gets!! I had a feeling it may have been MM106, but if those 2 you mention are more common I will hope it is one of them!Ahhhh.... lemony fresh victory is mineee!!!0
