Sue it won't be British Gas doing any digging if it's gas pipes it will be your local Gas Network company. Wouldnt they get a contractor in to do the digging0

it may well be a contractor working on behalf of the gas transporter for your area -(definitely not British Gas) where in t he country are you i.e. town and county and I can tell you the name of the company you need to contact. But regardless they are supposed to make good and have 5 working days after works completed to do so.I am responsible me, myself and I alone I am not the keeper others thoughts and words.0

Ask them why they can't use a "mole".
It's a little expensive, but I don't see how it can be more expensive than restoring a drive.
Also, if your pipe is really old, you may be due for "infrastructure renewal", which is a good time to relocate the meter if you were thinking about it.0 -

the use of mole is not always an option for many reasons so this may not be option in this case.I am responsible me, myself and I alone I am not the keeper others thoughts and words.0 -
