Blackberry Bold won't read sim card
I have a BB Bold (end of contract September 2010 after 18 months), took sim card out and put it back in (only asked DH to take the battery out but ho hum guess he had to play a bit - he's an engineer:sad:). Phone now says 'Insert sim card'. Borrowed my boss's sim card as he's also on Vodafone, same thing. Vodafone sent me a new sim card saying this happens all the time but that doesn't work either.
Vodafone have said I have to send it back to Blackberry for them to repair it (got the phone direct from Vodafone) and have just offered to reduce my tariff each month as I'm unable to use the phone. Call me cynical but this has only happened after I asked for an unlock code but to be fair the sim card works fine in DH's phone.
What are my best money saving options please? Is it worth getting it repaired? I can then sell it on. Would it be better to pay the disconnection fee or just pay each (reduced) monthly payment as its due?
I have ordered a new phone as obviously I can't use this one and my back up phone I dropped in my porridge this morning!!!!
Thanks for any help.
