Ringfenced Post after Maternity Leave for part time position

Am currently on maternity leave for second child , I work in a University library 2 evenings a week, for 37 weeks of the year, not alot but I can still contribute to the household and look after the kids full time.

After christmas they contacted me to find out what my plans where as there were sorting the budgets, I asked for a catch up meeting, which was arrange. To be honest they where very sketchy even though I said I was definately coming back. I went in for the meeting and after about 30 mins of being caught up on what was going on in the department was told my position was ringfenced and that I would need to start applying for alternate positions within the University did I still want to come back!

I have given them all the info they want for finding me an alternate position and now am being called in for a meeting with Human Resources to be told all this again, I believe they are stalling as I officially go back to work on the 5th June although don't work the summer holidays and once this resumes I no longer have the rights I do whilst on maternity leave, I am also wondering as I received some OMP will I have to pay this back, any help would be greatly appreciated.

When you go to the meeting with HR, make sure that they confirm whatever it is they are suggesting in writing.

There's obviously some confusion as your position cannot have been ringfenced.
If they meant that your role is to become redundant, they should be offering you any available roles not expecting you to apply for them.
