Just gave 700 as an example of the amount of space I could save. Point is realistically, without causing disturbance, I could probably only put about 60 on my window with a normal sized cell and I do need about 200 odd, so you see where where those plug cell would come in handy.

Lotus is right i didn't really read the whole thread. The only thing i use plugs for are the flower pouches otherwise your much better potting up to a size you want to plant out in

I only want to grow the plugs to save space indoors though. I dont mind re-potting once they've grown.

I only really wanted to know if the sowing procedure was prety much the same in plugcells as it is in sowing trays.

I think we have gone a bit too indepth here, lol.

Yes it is the same. You follow the instructions on the seed packet.

I replied with (what I thought) was some helpful advice for a novice. I was concerned that you didn't know what you were doing because you said:

"is it as simple as buying the cell trays, filling them with fertilizer, placing a seed on top and then covering with a tiny amount more soil?"

You didn't find it useful because (a) you didn't press the thank button and (b) You ignored it and asked: "So the question remains, is there any particular knack to doing these or is it as I said in post 1."

Which part of my post did you not understand or wasn't good enough for you?

Sorry Kay Peel. Yes your advice was helpful and thanks has been given accordingly. As far as the rest of what I have said goes I am sorry if you took it the wrong way I was just concerned that people thought I was gonna start some sort of nursery or something, lol.

..... and I'm sorry if I sounded a bit grumpy. I was just puzzled and needed to find out whether I was on the wrong track.

Good luck with growing from seed, s4lvatore!

    here you go

    choose plants you want

    go and buy seeds

pop to somewhere like Wilko's and buy seed cell trays and cheap seed tray propagator's ( a tray with a clear plastic "roof" on, my 2 yr daughter calls them roofs when we do it )

    buy a grow bag ( 1.50 from B&Q )

fill cells with grow bag compost ( leaving a little space on top )

    put in seeds

cover seeds with grow bag compost

    water well

leave on a window cill and ignore

that will be enough to get all BUT the most stubborn seeds to grow

half of the fun is watching them grow
