Corriander is very fussy - I've never had any luck to be honest. You may be OK potting them as a whole, but don't try breaking the root clump apart. You'll also need to make sure it's hardened off properly or the sudden temperature change will make it drop dead. It's very sensitive. Stick it out in the morning till late afternoon for a couple of weeks before putting it out perminantly.

Tbh corriander does perfectly well on a pot on your windowsill.

The pot is too big and the windowsill is too full of other new plants. I'll have a go at teasing a couple out of the large pot prior to starting the hardening off.

The coriander plant thrives well in the kitchen near the sink, if your windowsill is filled with other plants. HTH.

    Hi

I put coriander near to carrots as it seems to deter the carrot fly; as long as you chop it back every few days....plant the whole pot out or put the pot in the ground itself.

I have grown a pot full of seeds and they germinated easily. If a few were teased out of the pot and put in the garden would they not like the move?, (I never touch the roots) .
They are for my son who is made about curries - and hot chillies to put in them too.

Hence my reasoning for growing coriander and going to grow chillies, curries hmmmmmmmm:D

Reminds me, I read on a veg growing forum that someone had planted coriander next to carrots and it protected them from carrot fly. S/he kept cutting the coriander to the same height as the carrot tops and scattered the chopped up trimmings around each carrot. Coriander confetti was the phrase s/he used. Some other factor might have been at work but it is worth a go.

I would think you will be successful if you plant the entire rootball without disturbing it.

The windowsill which is full is the kitchen one. There are no plants in the lounge as I have a potting shed and an unheated greenhouse both full of young plants and
cuttings. I bought two surfinias and have been taking cuttings off them as I found that they root very easily. They look good in hanging baskets. I love messing about with plants but am not able to do digging or carrying heavy tubs (bad heart) which is why I have all these seed grown plants and cuttings - too many really but I give a lot away.
