Neighbour's disabled parking bay

Hi

My neighbour applied for a disabled parking bay in front of his property. No problem with that, I even signed a letter saying I had no objection to this. However, just found out that disabled bay is now in place but also extends across the front of my property.

Am currently in the process of trying to let out this property and think having no parking space may put off potential tenants. Have been in touch with Council about this and have been told Highways Agency will contact me about this.

Has anyone had similar experience to this?

Why is there no parking with your property?
Is the neighbours disabled bay covering your drive?
Is there a problem with parking anywhere else on the street?

I assume you mean that you can't actually park outside your property? Anyone renting your property would just assume they have to park elsewhere as there is a disabled bay there.. can't see it as a problem as no one actually has any rights over the road outside a property anyway.

There's no driveway at the property, it's in a terraced street. I'm aware I am not legally entitled to park outside my own property. I couldn't anyhow now as I'd get a parking ticket.

My neighbour now has two parking spaces, not what we expected.

the extended space is due to some vehicles needing rear ramp access (we have one on our street)

I think you should rest easy that it's a non-issue to most.

We live in a similiar street and now have 3 of these on one side of the road. We are all used to parking bumper to bumper virtually and these spaces are about the size of two small cars so are annoying because it seems like they are wasting some of the space. I don't see there is anything you can do and I won't complain because people need them.

Having lived in this kind of road, yes the space would put me off renting your house because it reduces the likleyhood of being able to park somewhere near my house.

Agree with the above I would have thought the space is larger to allow access. Don't see why it would put someone off renting, on street parking is not guaranteed directly outside your house anyway (surely people can park a few feet further along?)

    too many comps..not enough time!

Are such bays legally enforceable? Does the car which parks there have to display a blue badge?
Who keeps check if the occupant moves? do they then come and remove the square?
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

IIRC any disabled badge holder can park there.
But if the occupant moves they do come & remove the bay.

Do they two disabled bays? I'm confused because you say they now have two spaces and you have none -- can't you park on the other side of the disabled bay?

Did you go and see the plans for it when you had the letter? Was it not indicated how far over it'd come.

Check it's not been painted bigger than they're allowed.
