Thanks for all the help with my PC, now running fine. I am now trying to revivre my old Acer Aspire 3500. It is about 7 years old and I have replaced the motherboard as the old one was cracked. Also, you have only Service Pack 2 installed, that should show SP3. Windows Updates not working?
AVG 8 is too old. Remove it using AVG Remover, though not before downloading and saving a new antivirus solution.

Reinstall and update fully or do a clean up...get rid of all of those Toolbars and all of that Google nonsense.
