I bought a Acer computer just over 1 year ago in Argos. Now the fan has been very noisy for the las few months. I think that`s the problem it over heats and smells of burning. I don`t think I have the documents but it`s just 13 months old.
I will need to take it back or have it fixed.
It should be covered by manufacture ( I know they say 1 year) , surely it will still be able to get this fixed for free or exchange it.
Can anybody help , please.
Who do I contact? Sorry I am alittle stuck with this.

Laptop or desktop?
BTW Have you made sure all the vents are not full of fluff? That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
Why wait if you have been having problemsfan has been very noisy for the last few months
First things first what computer do you have as penrhym has asked. If laptop then it requires opening up to clean / replace i would suggest not a job for a novice if desktop same again but easier.
Your best course of action may be your local pc shop not one of the multiple chains and ask for a quote regarding repair or do you know anyone local who has a reputation for repairing computers.
It may simply be a matter of swapping out the fan replacements are relevantly cheap time taken will vary on what you have.0 -
As penrhyn says a little bit more info would be helpfull.
If it's a desktop then it sounds like you need a new power supply unit which includes the fan and possibly the interior requires a clean out of dust at the same time.0 -
Most probably dust burning. Give your computer (I assume it is a computer desktop) a good old spray of air.0

actually, under the sale of goods act I'd say the retailer is obliged to assist, as it's reasonable to expect a purchase such as a computer to last more than 12 months IMO....
obviously there's probably a need to be a bit more argumentative/fortright if going down this route, as the argos dudes probably aren't aware of the legislation.0 -
Thank you , it`s a desktop.
I just gave it a good clean , there was loots of dust.
Will see how long it will last. It still makes a noise, but it is a cheap one so perhaps it`s to be expected.
Cheers guys0
