Product under warranty but no receipt

Can anyone help? In December I bought a York rowing machine from Argos. I filled out the warranty card and posted it back, they have confirmed to me that the product is under warranty.
The machine has now broke, I contacted York who said I have to contact Argos, but I have no receipt. York are refusing to deal with me, as they are saying my contract is with Argos (but I have no proof of this).
Anyone know my rights.
Oh, yes, paid cash too!
