If you'd just called the police straight away they may not have scrapered and then they would have been caught.

I hate it that we are all supposed to be frightened of children and teenagers. It only makes things get worse and worse in society. I'd have yelled at the little !!!!!!s too and probably lobbed a few potatoes back at them.

I once chased a kid (who started throwing cherries at us) round our estate threatening to skin him alive when I caught him. I let him get away after a few minutes because I just wanted to scare him but that kid was SH**ing himself from the look on his face. Never came near me again.

I doubt it, the police are dire slow in my area.

A drunk was jumping infront of cars and bikes on a well used country road i missed him by no more than 2 ft after an emergency stop, i rang 999 and they never caught him and when I asked when did they turn up, 40 minutes after the call was placed!

Plenty of time to hobble away or get taken out by any of 100+ cars!

There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies

    Hi OP
Just ignore them, the scaremongering that goes on these days, they are only kids and if everyone had your attitude they might behave a bit better, most kids are just naughty not evil. I came home from work one day to find one of our windows broken and found a stone on the floor inside, later that week I got home early to find 6 or 7 teenagers sitting on the bank opposite throwing stones about. Well I absolutley lost it with them and swore and shouted until they all slunk off never to return.
I am a woman only 5'3" tall but they must have thought I was mad because I only got shocked looks from them no retaliation and I would do it again.

The likelihood of a couple of nine-year olds really targetting you are quite small. Personally, I would carry on telling them to sod off, or failing that follow them home. Talk to their parents if you feel safe doing so, or call your local Safer Neighbourhood Team (not the 999 number, you can get it from your local council) who are much better at responding to anti-social behaviour calls.

I wouldn't be too sure. I moved in to a new place 10 months ago and have had hell from the local kids, one of the main culprits its aged about four years old. (He isn't at school yet) He has vandalised my garden, smashed up bottles and the other kids who are around 10-12 years old have smashed up my garden chairs, thrown food at my house, bang on my door and run away, i've had my bin set on fire, everything stolen from my garden... police have been called numerous times but can't really do much but observe the situation apparently.

Also talking to the parents of the kids explaining politely they were running riot in my garden and vandalising it, the mother (in front of the kids) called me an ffing pedophile, said they were calling the police as they were concerned about me talking to them. I smiled and said that's no problem if you want to call the police because it was your children in the wrong not me. They didn't call the police surprisingly enough!

It sounds like he was just offering you advice to save yourself some grief in the future. You don't have to follow that advice of course.
