WTC Self Employed Confirming Income

I wonder if anyone can help me. I'm self employed and I've recently worked out my income for Tax Year 09-10 and phoned WTC to let them know. They've sent me a "Provisional Tax Credits Statement" suggesting they've underpaid me, but that they can't make a decision on it until my actual income and circumstances for the whole of the tax year 09-10 are known.
What do they need from me to confirm my income? I've looked on the TC website but am confused. Do I need to complete my Self Assessment return or is there another form of 'proof' that they will accept?
Thanks for any input

I have also done mine lost farmer.
Basically if you have received your renewal pack then they can put your final figures in for the last tax year. However, if you haven't received your renewal pack then they can't complete your renewal and must wait until you receive it to phone them up with the exact figures. During this time you are on provisional payments.
If you have received your renewal pack you can phone them up and say you've done your figures for the last tax year and have the FINAL (not estimated) figures to give them. They will gladly take them off you.
Also - if you've not seen the specialist tax credit team thread you may want to pop in there. As it may be that your claim is on a 'worklist'. Mine got stuck on a worklist and I didn't receive a letter but still had to speak to a member of this team to get the award finalised.0 -
Thank you, that's great advice! MSE is fab!
So it sounds like I need to wait for / chase up my renewal pack and take it from there. No problems,
Thanks again, LF0 -
Is there any way of knowing when we will receive the renewal pack? My tax return was finished last week and I want to update but can't.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0

We've had loads of queries like this and the answer from Tax Credits is always the same. They have until June to send them out!
I know it doesn't help you guys but that's the answer that they are giving unfortunately and you can't renew without receiving your pack
