Tax Credits

I am planning on leaving bf (or making him leave the house) and just wondered if my tax credits would go up or down if I claim as a single person.

Part of me thinks they will go up as I will be supporting children by myself, but another part of me thinks they will go down as my wages for a single person look good on paper (but they mightn't look so good as the total for a household if that makes sense).

My wages will also go down as I will only be working 3 days a week.

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
It all depends on how much you are getting right now - if you get the full amount now you won't get more if you see what I mean?
Put all your details into https://www.entitledto.com you can then put in different scenarios to see how much/ which benefits you'll be entitled to.

    It's only a game

Thanks for that. I've never quite been able to figure out entitled.com.

At the moment, I receive £562 in total for tax credits. I assume these are all child tax credits as I earn £32,500. Bf doesn't earn anything as he is a stay at home dad.

What is the maximum amount that is allowed?

When I go back to work after maternity leave (we're talking ages away - I'm only 10 weeks pregnant), I plan to go back 3 days a week earning £19,500. But I will be claiming as a single person with 2 children.

You will only be entitled to the child tax credits part now and when your wages drop. The cut off for working tax credits is 17k. Is that £562 per year I take it?
