Can you stack a fridge on top of a freezer?

Question as title really! We are hoping to totally redo our kitchen, changing the layout slightly so where as now we have an undercounter fridge and an undercounter freezer we'd like to end up with a tall fridge freezer, creating more cupboard space. However we wont have the funds to buy one straight after doing the kitchen so were wondering if we can get away with stacking the fridge on the freezer? Do we need a special bracket or would a surplus bit of worktop or mdf be enough to spread the weight?
Many thanks

Yes, we've done this for years with no problems. Just make sure there's adaquate ventilation around the back to stop overheating.Your Beliefs Determine The Actions You Take...Live with Passion0

Even a fridge full of food does not weigh very much nowadays. I can't imagine that it would be much of a problem. Also, fridges do not vibrate like washing machines and dishwashers. If you feel that a sheet of something between the two machines would be advantageous then put one in.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0
