  • Oh dear... the landlord hasn't really helped, here has he/she.

Can you get the bank to extend or supply an overdraft?

I assume that within about 14 days of your moving out, you'll be getting your deposit back on the original place.

If it's that close to the wire and urgent you might find a pay day loan company will give you a small loan to tide you over, even with a poor credit history (I stress I'm not inferring you have one, only that you say you can't get loans), however you might well find yourself paying e.g. £50 interest on a one month loan of say £250. It is outrageous, and very much an option of last/no other resort.

Once you get your first deposit back that will help you get back in the black.

  • Yes, you can.
  • Sorry, I read br as 'broke' and not 'bankrupt'. But yes, you can indeed apply.

I have only one piece of advice:

I would trust the advice/opinion of someone with thousands of posts/thanks over ones with a very low number - they have bee there done that got many t-shirts and their views can generally be trusted - I kno that I have depended on their experience on my relatively short time posting.

You say you only went BR recently so you are not discharged yet, you don't want to get into a worse situation.

Which ever way you go, good luck

Are you working or claiming benefits? Rhetorical question - it is none of my business - but people on certain benefits are eligible to apply for an emergency social fund budgeting loan "for help with rent in advance"

You can apply for a budgeting loan if you are getting Income Support, income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA), income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) or Pension Credit on the day that you apply. In addition, you must have been on one of these benefits for at least 26 weeks. Breaks of 28 days or less in your claim will be ignored.
